Can anyone recommend an alterations place that regularly does wedding gowns, and (of course) does a good job? I didn't buy my gown at a bridal salon, so I can't just get them done where it was purchased.

If you're willing to go out to Alexandria, I had a pretty good experience with Katherine's. I needed a bridesmaid dress fixed quick and even though I didn't get the dress from their shop, they were more than willing to help me out.

I asked the same question awhile ago and someone suggested Yoshi's Bridal in Falls Church.  I called Yoshi's and she was very sweet but I haven't had a chance to take my gown in yet.

If you're looking for bridal alterations in DC, check out Diana MyTran in Georgetown. She did an AMAZING job altering my wedding gown. I wore my sister's dress which was too big, so she took the entire thing apart, cut the seams, and custom fit it for me - the dress fit like a glove and was absolutely gorgeous!  Her work is incredibly impressive.  She's a tiny, power-packed woman who really knows what she's doing and absolutely loves creating gowns.

I used Estee Livioco in Gaithersburg/Rockville. She came very highly recommended and her work was amazing, and her prices were incredible. My dress was fully beaded and needed a bit of work, and she handled it with great care and made me a cathedral length two-tiered veil, all for about $150. She works out of her home--at the time I was fitting my ankle was broken and she was so nice, helping me in and out of my car and dress, etc. Her number is 301.869.5971. I just realized I need to Yelp about her right now!!!
