OK, I'm confused.
It's nothing more than a cluster of tables in front of some lunch eateries at the intersection of Broadway and Franklin. Having been raised in the land of Squares (Harvard, Davis, Porter, Inman, Central etc...) I must say, there's nothing sqaure-ly about it.
My office is right above it. As a joke I tell people I work in Franklin Sqaure. Of course nobody has ever heard of it. Yet the city of Oakland proudly marks it with an official sign. The unfinisehd and unsold luxury condos across the street envision a clean and sophisticated life here displayed on an artists' rendering of what the future has in store for the square. It's a big improvement from the bird crap covered crumbling concrete tables that were here just months ago. Wow, Oakland surely is on the up and up!
